• The High Seas!

A decidedly “Under the Sea” theme was had by the groups this week, learning about some of the animals that live within our oceans. The children looked at sharks, octopus, seahorses, starfish, crabs, sea turtles, dolphins, jellyfish, whales, and other beautiful (and some not so!) sea creatures.

Flashcard style games were played to reinforce the vocabulary and to help with recognition. This included “BINGO”, “Image Hunt”, and “Flashcard Slap”

Total Physical Response (TPR) games had the children use their whole bodies as part of educational games. “Row RowRow Your Boat” (song included) saw the children role play fishing, “Scuba Dive” had the groups search the seven seas for a variety of animals, and “Hidden Creatures”, a playground lesson, had the children search for their favourite animals in unusual playground locations.

Motor skills were practiced with some great crafts that included fish, aquariums, pirate ships, and more.

Next week we will be theming “Father’s Day”. If you’d like to help out and have the children bring a picture of their father (or Male role model), it would be fantastic!

Have a good weekend, and see you next week!

  •  Space, the final frontier. This week has been all about making first contact with the great unknown, exploring our solar system and the planets that make it up.
