This Week in Review

This week has seen the groups review the themes of this month. Weather, Season, and Clothes were all revised through some of the previous week’s kinaesthetic games and songs. Some fine motor skills activities were also prevalent, with the children picking up pencils and scissors to complete age-related tasks and crafts.

The children have been doing well this month, and during review week, teachers often give choices of activities to their groups. By forgoing more “formal” teaching practices, review week offers the children activities and tasks that they can choose themselves. Such independent thought, choice, and play is vital for young learners’ development, as they can select things they enjoy or things they want to improve on for themselves. Autonomy is not a bad thing!
